Several dozen people gathered Saturday afternoon at the South Carolina State House for "Never. Again.", an event described by organizers as a "rally against hate crimes and political violence.
Posters for the event called for "justice for Iryna Zarutska and Charlie Kirk." Kirk, a conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was assassinated Wednesday while speaking at an event in Utah .
Zarutka, a Ukrainian refugee, was fatally stabbed August 22 while on on a Charlotte light rail car.
Saturday's rally was not listed on the Turning Point USA list of official events, but Turning Point USA Alumni Association Administrator Coleman Theodore was among the speakers.
U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson also spoke at the event.
