MILFORD, CT. (WFSB) - September is National Suicide Prevention Month.
Bikers and walkers headed to the shoreline Sunday to bring attention to the important issue with a bike ride called Folks on Spokes and a walk called Step Forward. Both were put on by Bridges Healthcare.
The event, in its 34th year, aimes to raise funds and awareness for mental health and addiction services.
“If you break an arm, you’re in a sling. If you have a head operation, you’re in a band aid. But, you don’t see mental illness, you don’t see drug addiction,” said Ray Vitali, Co-Founder, Folks on Spokes.
Many who contributed to the event know the real struggles of addiction and mental health and how they can impact an entire family.
