Firefighters with Los Angeles County and the Angeles National Forest jumped on a brushfire on the right shoulder of the Golden State (5) Freeway in the Castaic area Sunday and stopped the moderate spread at two acres.
The fire was first reported to the California Highway Patrol at 3:10 p.m. Sunday on the southbound Golden State Freeway just south of Templin Highway.
The CHP shut down southbound lanes 3 and 4 for the firefighting effort.
At 3:38 p.m., the Angeles National Forest reported the fire was held to under two acres and firefighters continued working in the area.
No injuries were reported.
The cause was under investigation.
