ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

The 2025 New Mexico State Fair Queen is not only worthy of the "honor and prestige like no other in New Mexico" that comes with the title. She's also carrying on a family tradition.

Taylor Rolan of Valencia was crowned in a ceremony at Tingley Coliseum on Sunday, the fair's final day. She was chosen by a three-person panel that judged contestants on horsemanship, public speaking skills, and personal interviews.

This not being a real monarchy, the fact that Rolan's mother, Teri, preceded her as a New Mexico State Fair Queen in 2001 had no bearing on her selection.

A student at New Mexico State University studying animal science with minors in biology and chemistry, Rolan is an ACES Ambassador, member of the NMSU equestrian team, livestock judging team, and lamb show
