CHARLES TOWN — The Jefferson Arts Council marked its 50th anniversary this week with both community celebration and statewide recognition, as Gov. Patrick Morrisey proclaimed Sept. 13, 2025, as Jefferson Arts Council Day in West Virginia.

The proclamation highlighted the council’s decades of work supporting local artists, schools and cultural programs. It praised the volunteer-run nonprofit for enhancing the quality of life in Jefferson County, energizing local streetscapes through public art and encouraging the next generation of artists through scholarships and exhibitions.
