DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Police are searching for a driver in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 61-year-old man on Saturday.
According to Durham police, just before 10:45 p.m., a pedestrian was standing near the bus stop in front of the 900 block of Chalk Level Road when they were hit by an unknown vehicle driving west on Chalk Level Road.
Officers said an investigation found that the suspect's vehicle went off the road to the left, hit two signs and a pedestrian before driving away from the scene.
The pedestrian, who was later identified as 61-year-old Richard Ferguson Jr. of Durham, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the driver's vehicle was described as possibly an orange Jeep with a hard top, and is likely to have damage to its front end or hood and
