Karen Read’s legal troubles in Norfolk County may not be over after her June acquittal on charges of killing her boyfriend in Canton in 2022.
Now, a special prosecutor wants a judge to order her to provide passwords for two of her cell phones so authorities can look for evidence of possible witness interference, records show.
In an Aug. 28 filing in Norfolk Superior Court, special prosecutor Robert C. Cosgrove, a retired judge, requested an order for Read‘s lawyers to provide the court “any passwords or other information necessary to access the seized devices, or alternatively, notify the court and the Commonwealth that [she] asserts a 5th Amendment privilege not to disclose such information.
