Malawian versatile rapper Duncan Zgyambo, popularly known as Gwamba, has pledged financial support to 8-year-old Chikondi, a boy who has been living in hardship and resorting to begging at night around drinking spots in Blantyre.

The plight of Chikondi came to light through a video shared recently by Rodwell Lumbe of Citizen Talk Show. In the clip, the boy revealed that he lives with his mother in Ntoso, Chirimba, and that he has never been to school despite having the desire to get an education.

Chikondi is the fifth-born in a family of seven. His mother, who separated from his father in Zomba before moving to Blantyre, struggles to provide for the children by selling leafy vegetables to pay rent and buy food. On some days, when food runs out at home, Chikondi goes to the streets to beg
