The section of the Hickory Riverwalk bridge that is over water will close for electrical repairs, according to the city of Hickory.

The city said repairs should take about four to six weeks. The work will include repairs to the lighting system and conduit, which the city said were damaged when the remnants of Hurricane Helene moved through the area in September 2024.

The overwater bridge previously closed immediately after Hurricane Helene when a railing was damaged. The bridge reopened in February.

The city said all other portions of the Riverwalk trail are open while repairs are made to the overwater bridge. Those portions of the trail can be accessed from Hickory City Park and Rotary-Geitner Park off 12th Street Drive NW.
