CALCUTTA, Ohio - A search for a possible missing person in Columbiana County ended safely over the weekend after first responders located her at her home.
The Calcutta Fire Department was alerted shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday to a possible missing person after an emergency cell phone detection button was activated. Firefighters and other responders were dispatched to search the area of the coordinates transmitted by the device.
Calcutta Fire Chief Dave McCoy sent crews into a wooded area to begin a search. The department's response included a rescue unit, an ambulance, a side-by-side off-road vehicle, and a command unit with K-9 Solace.
After several hours of searching, Chief McCoy contacted the female by phone and confirmed they were safe at their residence.
