As the new strain of Covid, Stratus, begins to spread in the UK, there are a few unusual symptoms you may not realise are actually signs of the virus.

In recent weeks, new data has suggested Stratus (XFG) now makes up 76.1 per cent of reported infections in Ireland, with the infection rate increasing by nearly 50 per cent in six weeks.

This unsettling figure has caused many Brits to wonder what the symptoms of this strain are as the disease continues to spread.

One of the earliest signs you may have it is a scratchy or raspy voice, according to Harley Street GP Dr Kaywaan Khan.
