TRUSSVILLE, Ala. — Dozens gathered Sunday evening at Veterans Memorial Park in Trussville to honor the life and legacy of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated last week in Utah. The vigil featured candlelight, and testimonies from community members who said they were inspired by Kirk’s faith and his call to spread the gospel.

Organizer Baylee Spurlin, a Trussville resident, said she felt compelled to hold the event after seeing people worldwide responding to Kirk’s death. “We’re honoring Charlie Kirk’s legacy, and honoring Jesus as well,” Spurlin said. “Charlie wanted us to be bold. I’m not a public speaker at all, but Charlie wanted us to be bold.”
