NEW YORK (PIX11) – Lane blockers, beware – more bus routes in New York City are now equipped with cameras, according to the MTA.
The automated camera enforcement has been installed on the Q6, Bx 20, Bx3 and Bx7 routes as of Monday. There is a 60-day warning period for cars that drive on bus routes, block stops and double park, according to the agency.
After the warning period is over, violators can get hit with summonses that start at $50. Repeat offenders could be charged up to $250 per violation, according to the MTA.
Over 1,200 buses are equipped with cameras along 43 routes.
