NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A Charleston man is facing charges after police say he robbed an elderly woman at a North Charleston bank.
Sammie Greene, 63, is charged with entering a bank with intent to steal and strong-arm robbery, according to jail records.
Police say the robbery happened at the South State Bank on Centre Point Drive on Aug. 28. Investigators say Greene is accused of snatching $180 and a document containing a 74-year-old woman’s bank account number from her hand.
K-9 units arrested Greene at the scene and police returned the stolen items to the victim.
He was initially charged with petty larceny, police said in a release, but those charges were upgraded after investigators reviewed security footage.
