NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A 63-year-old man has been charged after police said he "snatched" money and a personal document from an elderly woman while at a North Charleston bank.

The incident happened on August 28 at the South State Bank on Centre Pointe Drive.

Information provided by the North Charleston Police Department revealed that the suspect, Sammie Green, was alleged to have "snatched $180 and a document containing a 74-year-old woman’s bank account number from her hand."

Greene was arrested at the scene, and the stolen items were returned to the victim.

He was initially charged with petty larceny; however, after reviewing surveillance footage, North Charleston detectives upgraded those charges to entering a bank with intent to steal and strong-arm robbery.
