PHOENIX — A woman is facing a criminal charge for allegedly calling Maricopa County's animal shelter and making violent threats.
Katie Dickson, 37, of Washington state, turned herself in to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office after a warrant had been issued for her arrest following an investigation into threatening phone calls made to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control employees last year.
On June 16, 2024, staff received 18 phone calls over the span of about 40 minutes from a person threatening physical and sexual violence.
"I hope you guys burn in hell. I'm going to tie you all up, set your place on fire and make sure somebody rapes..." the person is heard saying in a recorded message released by county officials.
Officials say they identified the caller as Dickson, who is now
