UPDATE: Online court records show Cecil was convicted of one count of theft on Sept. 26. A Douglas county judge sentenced her to 12 months in jail with credit for 11 days already served.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - Two Topeka women were arrested Sunday after they allegedly ran out of a store with a cart full of unpurchased items.

Sandra Cecil, 40, and Kimberly Coleman, 39, were booked in the Douglas County jail on Sept. 14 for charges related to shoplifting.

The Lawrence Police Department posted about the arrests on Facebook, saying officers were called to the Dick’s Sporting Goods on Iowa Street around 7 p.m. that night.

Store employees described Cecil and Coleman to the officers and said they had loaded up a shopping cart and left the store without pay
