JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - A years-long project to widen Beachview Drive in Jackson County moved forward on Monday.
Crews completed phase one and reopened the stretch of road from Old Spanish Trail to Blueberry Drive.
The focus now shifts to phase two, which covers the area from Blueberry Drive to Old Walnut Road.
The road is a main thoroughfare for Gulf Park Estates residents and will be completed in multiple phases. The entire project could take anywhere from three to five years to finish.
Jackson County District 5 Supervisor Randy Bosarge said each phase will cost around $2 million, with the exception of the bridge.
Funding for the project is coming from Jackson County road funds.
