LSU coach Brian Kelly said Monday that quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has been playing through a torso injury.

"He's been slowed a little bit," Kelly said. "He's fighting through it, and he's getting better."

Nussmeier has struggled at times this season, completing 65% of his passes for 689 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Kelly said LSU has "limited him a little bit" during practice because of the tightness in his torso, wanting to be careful with how much he throws between games.

"I think he's on the other side of that," Kelly said, "but we had to be really careful with him the first few weeks."

Nussmeier has not missed any game time, and Kelly indicated he will be able to fully recover during No. 3 LSU's open date. The Tigers have games against Southeastern Lou
