SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - The Summerville Police Department arrested two suspects in connection with an apartment complex shooting that critically injured a three-year-old child.

Jamarris Dyqyan Benjamin is charged with three counts of unlawful conduct towards a child, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, first offense and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent crime.

Yazmin Payne is charged with three counts of unlawful conduct towards a child and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, first offense, according to Dep. Chris Hirsch.

Officers responded to a reported shooting at Lake Pointe Apartments and discovered that a three-year-old boy had been shot. The child was later transported to a nearby hospital, where he remains
