The Somerset Briar Jumpers hosted the Sayre Spartans on Saturday night, with the winner advancing on in the All "A" State Tournament. In what was a very physical soccer contest, the game was all square at the end of regulation to force a penalty shootout. There, the Jumpers prevailed 3-1 to take the victory 3-2 over Sayre.
Senior Roman Abedi had the first shot attempt of the game in the fifth minute. Somerset couldn't manage a shot on goal until the 18th minute, where Kevin Meija had a shot that was saved by the goalkeeper. Randall Ochoa Zacarias had a shot in the 29th minute that went wide of the net. Both defenses were strong during the first 40 minutes, with goalkeeper Braxton Wheeler solid in the Jumpers' net, as the teams went into the break tied 0-0.
