QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) -- The heroic efforts of a firefighter resulted in the rescue of an unresponsive individual during a two-alarm fire in Queens on Friday.
The fire was reported at 15-11 124th Street at around 6:21 a.m.
125 fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene. As crews combatted the fire, Probationary Firefighter John Palmer of Ladder 144 searched the home.
Despite the smoke, Palmer located an unresponsive individual in the bathroom. The patient was carried to safety, where EMS was able to rescuscitate them before being transported to an area hospital.
The fire was under control at 7:19 a.m.
EMS treated five patients who were all transported to area hospitals.
