KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - During warmups on Sunday, a few Chiefs players wore shirts supporting wide receiver Rashee Rice.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and wide receiver Tyquan Thornton sported the shirts with photos of Rice on them, along with the phrase “Free 4.”
The message on the shirts raised some eyebrows on social media.
In response to a question about the shirt on Monday, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said those players wore the shirts to support their teammate.
“I know these guys love Rashee,” he said. “They feel for him sitting out. I think it’s no more than that.”
The NFL suspended Rashee Rice for six games at the start of the season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy .
