MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - A new path to law enforcement is opening up right here in the Magic City.

Minot State’s criminal justice program is joining forces with the police department on a tuition-covered apprenticeship.

The program trains college students to become future officers, while tackling the department’s staffing shortage.

College is often where lifelong friendships begin. But for Colton and Landon, their journey continues.

“We’ve always been friends since middle school. So, to be able to come into stuff that we want to become and dream of, it’s pretty nice,” said junior Colton Schuster.

The city council approved the tuition-covered apprenticeship program in May, and now, four students are bringing it to life.
