A mum-of-three burned to death by her estranged ex-husband desperately sought help from a domestic violence support network after her complaints about her killer were dismissed by police, a court has been told.

The chilling revelation about slain mum-of-three Kelly Wilkinson emerged during a pre-inquest conference at the Southport Courthouse on Monday.

Deputy State Coroner Stephanie Gallagher will chair the inquest into the beloved Gold Coast woman’s murder, which sparked outrage and prompted protests across the nation for more action to combat domestic violence.

Ms Wilkinson was murdered by her estranged ex-husband, Brian Earl Johnston, at her Arundel home on April 20, 2021.
