AUSTIN, Texas — The 2025-26 hunting season is underway in Texas and if you’re a hunter, Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) officials want to make sure you know about changes this year.
Going Digital
For the first time, all TPWD hunting and fishing licenses are available in a fully digital format. That includes recreational hunting, fishing, combo licenses and tags. TPWD is rolling out a how-to video to guide users through the process .
Simplified Options for Non-Residents
Lawmakers also streamlined non-resident hunting licenses this spring. What used to be five license options is now down to two:
Non-resident General Hunting license : required for anyone harvesting game animals such as deer, pronghorn, wild turkey, bighorn sheep and alligator.
