WOLCOTT, Vt. (WCAX) - A snip of the ceremonial scissors and the trails at the Wolcott Community Forest are now officially open.

The five miles of trails are located near the elementary school, and part of 735 acres of preserved land.

A ceremony was held over the weekend.

The goal is to create educational opportunities for kids and a destination for tourists.

The newly purchased forest also allows for wastewater improvements to create more development in the village.
