LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Husker volleyball legend John Cook is about to be immortalized in bronze. The Nebraska Athletic Department will dedicate a statue honoring the retired head coach Thursday, Sept. 18, at 5:30 p.m., celebrating a career defined by excellence both on and off the court.

The one-hour ceremony will take place on the north side of the Bob Devaney Sports Center and will feature University of Nebraska President Jeffrey Gold, Athletic Director Troy Dannen, current Head Coach Dani Busboom Kelly, and Cook himself.

Cook announced his retirement on Jan. 29, 2025, after 25 seasons at Nebraska and 32 years as a college head coach, including seven at Wisconsin.

During his tenure with the Huskers, he led the program to four national championships, 12 NCAA Semifinals appearances
