Years after it was last open and after lengthy negotiations between town officials and a developer, the former flea market site in Bargersville is closer to being redeveloped.

The Bargersville Redevelopment Commission has reached an agreement that will reshape a major gateway to downtown with the development of The Jefferson, a $59 million mixed-use development that could soon be built at the former site of the flea market.

The 6.4 acres of land at County Road 144 and State Road 135 will be redeveloped into approximately 255 multi-family units, 11,000 square feet of retail space, along with a parking lot and garage parking, according to the economic development agreement. The project is anticipated to increase the assessed value to approximately $38.4 million.
