Karen Attiah, an opinion columnist at the Washington Post and founding editor of its Global Opinions section, was fired for “unacceptable” posts after the death of popular conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
She’s not alone. In a quick reversal of their opposition to “cancel culture,” Republican politicians, followers and local pundits have called for the firing of anyone who, in their opinion, “celebrated” Kirk’s assassination. As one woman put it on X, “I’ve been making phone calls all day to get these people fired.”
One would assume that the people being fired from their jobs must have done something egregious. What did Karen Attiah say that was so bad, so bad that she deserved to lose her income and the newspaper give up a popular writer and award-winning editor — and its the last
