LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Texas Education Agency said it will investigate teachers and staff accused of posting or sharing what it called “reprehensible and inappropriate” social media content related to the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk last week.

In guidance sent to districts statewide, the agency said such posts could violate the Texas Educators’ Code of Ethics.

United Independent School District and Laredo Independent School District confirmed they have shared the announcement with employees.

Both school districts have issued statements pledging professionalism and reaffirming their commitment to ethical conduct:
