HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Homewood Public Library is continuing its renovations.

Judith Wright, the library's director, said the building is in the third phase of a four-phase renovation. The third phase includes a new floor, stage and kitchen for the library's large auditorium. Crews are updating its café and restrooms in the children's department.

"People want to love to come into their local library," Wright said. "It's kind of a safe place. It's also the last place in society where there's no expectation to spend money, so you want to make that a welcoming environment."

Wright said each phase of the renovation takes a year to complete. The city is funding the renovations.
