TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) -- The city of Tuscaloosa announced there are two open extra positions on its zoning board of adjustments.

According to the city, the zoning board of adjustments decides on calls for special exceptions and can enable variances from the zoning ordinance. The board also makes choices on appeals.

Supernumerary members serve on the board in absence of regular members. One of the terms ends on September 30, 2026, while the other open supernumerary position term lasts until the same day in 2028.

Members must reside in Tuscaloosa and be ready to attend meetings, which are set for 5 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month. The city council will review and recommend candidates. The city prefers applicants with training or experience related to zoning ordinances.
