HAWKINS, Texas (KETK)-- The Hawkins Independent School District is asking voters to approve a proposition in the upcoming November elections that would increase residents' property taxes.

The proposal would increase Hawkins residents' property taxes by $0.08 per $100 of taxable assessed property value and would be used to help fund the district's maintenance and operations. If the property taxes are increased, it would provide the district with an additional $1,097,426.60.

The election will be held on Nov. 4 and early voting begins on Oct. 20 and runs through Oct. 31
