GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Governor Tony Evers signed an executive order on Monday to make sure families across the state continue to have access to safe and effective vaccines.

The order directs the state’s Department of Health Services to monitor and review immunization recommendations and gives the chief medical officers the ability to issue orders allowing access to vaccines.

This comes amid a national shift away from vaccines as state and federal leaders push for fewer medical mandates.

On Monday, U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. appointed five new members to the CDC’s Vaccine Advisory Committee.

They are set to meet later this week to discuss the MMRV, COVID-19, and Hepatitis B vaccines.
