AYDEN, N.C. (WITN) - An Ayden mother shares her frustrations over the way her daughter’s middle school handled what she’s calling a seizure.

“I thought I was gonna die honestly, because I couldn’t breathe,” said Kaylee Royse, an eighth-grade student at Ayden Middle School. “I was scared.”

Royse says that’s how she felt while having a seizure on September 8th in the Ayden Middle School library.

According to Kaylee and her mother, Ashley West, the school didn’t follow proper protocol during her seizure because they say the school called West first without calling 911. The pair say West got to the school 20 minutes later, and the school finally called 911 when she arrived.
