LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A recent report by the city of Little Rock shows that it is moving in the right direction when it comes to crime.

During a conversation with Mayor Frank Scott Jr., he spoke about this huge milestone.

"Just year to year we've seen now close to 18 % of overall crime reduction from last year and 8 % of raw violent crimes," Scott said.

The mayor says that crime is down by 22 % compared to a five-year average and violent crimes like homicide, rape, and robbery have decreased by 15 % over the same period.

"We take into account every interaction from a crime standpoint and that builds the data behind the numbers, and we report our numbers to the FBI and all the other federal agencies as well," Scott said.

The mayor credits the drop to the city's summertime crime reduction
