BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – New Bernalillo County Fire Rescue Chief Zachary Lardy now has his new badge. Lardy was formally sworn into his position during a ceremony on Monday afternoon at the county's Public Safety Training Academy. His family also pinned his chief's badge and rank insignia on his uniform.

Lardy assumed the role last week, replacing Greg Perez. Lardy said he won't take his new responsibility lightly. "Being a public servant, to me, is putting community above self. It means protecting lives and property. But it also means building trust, showing compassion, and working every day to ensure our residents feel safe and supported," said Chief Lardy.
