CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Clifton Park Town Board passed an amendment Monday night to strengthen the authority animal control has to protect animals that may be endangered.
The amendment states an animal control officer or law enforcement officer will have the right to remove animals found in an unattended vehicle. The animal will immediately be taken for veterinary care, and the animal's owner will be responsible for all subsequent costs.
The amendment also states any owner or person who has care or custody of an animal must provide adequate food, water and shelter as well as ensuring they are kept in acceptable temperatures.
First time offenses will result in a $250 fine or 15 days in jail. A second offense will face a $500 fine or 15 days in jail. A third offense will be $1,
