The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has issued a new alert across its social media platforms. They are urging millions of benefit recipients to watch out for fraudulent text messages from criminals attempting to steal their "personal or financial details".
Currently, 23.7 million people throughout Great Britain receive at least one DWP benefit. That includes the State Pension (a contributory benefit), Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Attendance Allowance, or Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA).
In messages posted on X and Facebook , the DWP warned: "Be aware of scam text messages claiming to be from @dwpgovuk. Always be careful about links and never share personal or financial details, only engage with trusted official sources."
The DWP then encouraged anyone rece
