BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR/KMOT) – The courts sentenced a Bismarck man to life with parole in the sexual assault of a child on the state Capitol grounds, but stated he must serve 25 years of the sentence, with the rest suspended.
Bismarck Police arrested Isiah Simms last August. Investigators said the victim told police he assaulted her, and Simms admitted to the crime.
In May, Simms changed his plea to guilty on four counts of gross sexual imposition .
The balance of time after 25 years is suspended for five years of supervised probation.
Simms will also have to undergo a psychological evaluation and must avoid contact with the victim.
