OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) - At its meeting Monday night, the Overland Park City Council approved a $22 million contract with Axon for updated police technology. Police Chief Doreen Jokerst says it was one of her top priorities when she became chief last year.
" In our police department right now, our technology is very siloed, which means you might have to put something in and then put it into another place," said Jokerst. “This would bring it into one ecosystem, making our officers and our professional staff’s jobs more efficient. From an efficiency standpoint, an operational standpoint, it’s really great.”
The contract secures the purchase of body-worn cameras, in-car cameras, interview room cameras, virtual reality training, drones as a first responder, and more. A quote from Axon
