SAN DIEGO — Federal prosecutors in the Southern District of California have filed 97 border-related cases this week, including charges for attempting to bring in undocumented immigrants for financial gain, reentering the U.S. after deportation, and importing controlled substances.

Here are a few examples of border-related arrests that occurred this week:

Marco Arizmendi-Rodriguez, a Mexican citizen, was arrested on September 5 and charged with Attempted Entry after Deportation. According to the complaint, Border Patrol agents intercepted him as he was crawling across terrain near the Otay Mesa Port of Entry after illegally crossing from Mexico. He had been deported from Calexico in June 2011.
