ELYRIA, Ohio — A 58-year-old woman died Monday after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street, police say.
According to a news release, a 22-year-old man driving a 2010 Dodge Charger attempted to turn north onto John F. Kennedy Memorial Parkway from Cleveland Street at about 6:38 a.m. when he struck the woman, who was in the crosswalk on the parkway.
The woman was pronounced dead at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, police say. The name of the woman has not been released by police.
“Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the pedestrian during this tragic time,” Capt. Bill Lantz said in a statement. “We are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.”
Police say drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors
