Labor’s Cabinet Secretary Andrew Charlton has admitted he does not own solar panels, batteries, or an electric vehicle.

The admission came despite his insistence that renewables were "the cheapest form of new power into the grid" and essential to Australia’s future.

The Albanese government has pushed its all-renewables agenda as it prepares to release its carbon emissions reduction target by 2025 on Thursday.

Mr Charlton told Sky News that without serious climate action the country risked impacts on public health, natural disasters and coastal regions.

But when pressed about his personal circumstances, he conceded he had not adopted the very technologies his government has urged the public to embrace.
