MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM)-- A Cumberland County bridge built in 1887 will soon be restored.
The West Shore Historical Society announced that the Sheepford Road Bridge rehabilitation project has been underway after six years of advocacy. York and Cumberland Counties currently own the Sheepford Road Bridge, but ownership will be transferred to the West Shore Historical Society upon the restoration's completion.
The 114-foot bridge crosses the Yellow Breeches Creek, which connects Lower Allen and Fairview Township, according to the West Shore Historical Society. It was closed to traffic in 202 after inspectors found it was no longer safe for vehicles, thus launching the WSHS "Save Our Bridge" campaign.
