TROY, Ala. ( WSFA ) - The atmosphere was solemn and reflective as many came together on the campus of Troy University to remember the life of Charlie Kirk - a conservative activist whose movement inspired young voters and called them to action nationwide, like Caitlyn Harris.

Harris founded Troy’s Turning Point USA chapter and currently serves as President.

She became inspired by Kirk after hearing him speak on YouTube, calling him “eloquent.”

Harris says while Turning Point’s founder is now sadly gone, the movement is not.

“Turning Point won’t stop here, it has exploded overnight to something I think we never imagined it could be in our lifetimes,” Harris believes. “Above all, we’re going to encourage civil debate between students, that’s always what Charlie stood for.”
