Clyde W. Kelly was appointed as architect for the proposed high school in Duluth's East End. At the same meeting, the Board of Education also discussed, but tabled, the appointment of an architect for the new Washington School auditorium.

A recent report shows that Duluth schools received $2,849 per pupil last year, compared to $4,926 in Minneapolis and $5,208 in St. Paul. Voters will decide this fall whether to authorize an increase in the school board's taxing authority to pay for a proposed increase in teacher salaries.
