MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - The Minot City Council on Monday voted to remove its dues for 2026 for the North Dakota League of Cities, amid a flurry of budget votes in a nearly seven-hour council meeting.

Council member Scott Samuelson introduced the motion near the end of the budget discussion.

Samuelson and council member Mike Blessum cited concerns over the organization’s handling of the property tax cap debate during this year’s legislative session.

The council narrowly approved the motion 4-3, with Samuelson, Blessum and council members Rob Fuller and Mike Hayes voting in favor.

Mayor Mark Jantzer and council members Lisa Olson and Paul Pitner voted against. Pitner objected to the motion, calling it ‘personal politics.’

The vote removes $25,000 from the 2026 budget in dues.
