Two tractor-trailers collided late on Sep. 15 on Interstate 80, tearing open cargo and spilling thousands of M&Ms across the highway in Warren County, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 10:17 p.m. near the 2-mile marker on the westbound side, according to the Knowlton Township Fire and Rescue Company. Officials said a tractor-trailer carrying a full load of candy struck another truck that was parked on the shoulder near the 2.4-mile marker.

The impact ripped open both box trailers, scattering candy across the roadway. Crews initially responded to reports of a possible fire, but none was found.
